Original watercolor painting on paper by listed artist, George Colin (IL., 1929 - 2014), signed lower right. Features a village scene with a trio of ladies. Art measures 14" h x 21.5" w mounted in a frame measuring 24" x 31".
Available payment options
We offer in house shipping for the majority of the items that are sold in the auction. The exceptions being furniture, bulk or heavy items like marble statues or extremely fragile items. For these items, we recommend you work with a shipper. Shipping charges are not included in the winning hammer price. If you live over 4 hours from the auction house, we will assume that you would like your items shipped. Please let us know if you do not want them shipped if you are over 4 hours away from the auction house. The card that you registered with will be charged for all shipping charges and you will also receive an email with tracking information.
Colin began painting and drawing during the 1950's and amassed a collection of over 7,000 pieces before being "discovered" in the mid-1980's by a Chicago photographer. The retired flour mill worker has a body of work which includes over 10,000 drawings and painting as well as more than 4,000 pieces of wooden folk art and sculpture.
His work can be found in the Museum of American Folk Art in New York City, within the private collections of both President George Bush and Oprah Winfrey, and within shops and restaurants throughout Chicago.
