Original unsigned marble sculpture attributed to listed artist, Ferdinando Vicchi (France, 1875 - 1945). Depicts a young woman, sitting with her head resting in her left hand while holding a book in her right hand. The woman’s nude upper body has been crafted from pure white marble, while her lap is covered with drapery crafted from green ‘Verde Antico’ marble. The figure sits on a stone and organge-yellow siena marble chair, which is set on a square stepped siena marble base. Measures 22" x 15" x 14."

Ferdinando Vichi was one of the talented group of Tuscan sculptors associated with the Bazzanti gallery in Florence. His work in marble and alabaster demonstrates his technical ability and admiration and knowledge of the female form.
