Leslie Roy Hobdell was born in 1911. Leslie Roy Hobdell is best remembered for his surrealist paintings and his convincing trompe l’oeil murals. After studying at the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, Hobdell collaborated with photographer and set designer Angus McBean, creating numerous backdrops for ballets and plays in London. Many of Hobdell’s works are playfully signed with the initials of his two cats, Giles and Emma Farquharson.
