In 1944 my father was stationed in Dorchester county, England during WWII. He became friends with an antique dealer there who had obtained the salvage rights to the London area after the bombings. My father purchased them with cash and rations, then had them shipped to Portland, Oregon where my mother was living during the war. The pieces listed here have been in our family since that time. In 1987 my mother went to the Wedgwood factory and saw a fruit tureen with base plate. Upon talking to the museum curator, she found out they were not aware of another tureen in existence and had never seen the clam shaped dishes. The tureen and plates were placed at circa 1780 to 1800.
