Original oil painting on canvas by listed artist, Edward Robert Smythe (England, 1810 - 1899), titled "Gamekeeper". Art measures 18" h x 24" w presented in a frame measuring 24" x 29".

We offer in house shipping for the majority of the items that are sold in the auction. The exceptions being furniture, bulk or heavy items like marble statues or extremely fragile items. For these items, we recommend you work with a shipper. Shipping charges are not included in the winning hammer price. If you live over 4 hours from the auction house, we will assume that you would like your items shipped. Please let us know if you do not want them shipped if you are over 4 hours away from the auction house. Smythe exhibited at the Suffolk Fine Arts Association at the New Lecture Hall of the Mechanics' Institution, Ipswich in August 1850, several oil paintings including 'Chapel Viaduct, Colne Valley', 'A Group of Animals', 'A Sketch Ploughing', 'Ponies and a Dog' and 'A Landscape', and a watercolour 'The Ruling Passion strong in Death' and was also a member and exhibitor at the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1886-1898 and in 1889 at the Woodbridge Fine Art Exhibition at the Assembly Room, Bull Hotel, Woodbridge had several oil paintings on display including 'Horses at Marsh', 'Donkeys' and 'Early Morn'.
He also exhibited five works at the Royal Academy including 'View in the Colne Valley at Chappel, Essex' and exhibited five works at the British Institution including 'Pony and Boy' and 'The Village Blacksmith'.
