From the estate of Frances Gabe, creator of the world’s first & only self-cleaning home. Newberg, Oregon’s very own local celebrity inventor was once known around the world after being featured in The New York Times, People, The Guardian, on Phil Donahue’s talk show & in Chuck Palahniuk’s book about the curious characters around Portland, Oregon titled “Fugitives & Refugees”. Gabe’s feisty & spirited persona drove her to invent, build & patent a home that could - at the push of a button - activate ceiling sprinklers, suds the walls & floors, dry surfaces, clean laundry, bathrooms and then even be channeled outside to wash the dog! She was a woman ahead of her time and embodied the independent thinking that Oregon has become known for. Her creativity expanded beyond the self-cleaning house to art in the form of sketches, jewelry, pottery & more. We are happy to present this collection of her work which displays her eccentric vision & creativity.
