Crook studied at the AIC and taught art in Chicago for more than ten years. He further studied at the Royal Academy in Berlin. By 1903 he had settled in Portland, OR; however, he made painting excursions to northern California, Washington, Canada, and Mexico. A landscape painter, his works are distinguished by fogs and opalescent hues of hazy mornings and late afternoons. Exh: Painters of the Pacific NW, Portland Museum, 1915, 1920, 1922, 1925; Oakland Art Gallery, 1928. In: Oregon Historical Society.
