Glen Esk is the longest of the Angus Glens and is still a thriving community, with inhabited houses all the way up the glen. The magnificent ruins of Invermark Castle guard the way to Loch Lee, the beautiful stretch of water at the head of the glen. Richard was born in Edinburgh and studied architecture at Edinburgh University. He now lives in Aberdeen and paints entirely in watercolour. Originally best known for his marine paintings he now concentrates on British subjects with an emphasis on architectural landmarks. Eilean Donan is recognised as one of the most iconic images of Scotland  all over the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most visited and important attractions in the Scottish Highlands.
