Original oil painting on board by listed California artist, Arthur Best (1859 - 1935), signed lower left. Features Yosemite Valley, California, as noted on the verso. Art measures 10" h x 20" w mounted in a frame measuring 15.5" x 26".

We offer in house shipping for the majority of the items that are sold in the auction. The exceptions being furniture, bulk or heavy items like marble statues or extremely fragile items. For these items, we recommend you work with a shipper. Shipping charges are not included in the winning hammer price. If you live over 4 hours from the auction house, we will assume that you would like your items shipped. Please let us know if you do not want them shipped if you are over 4 hours away from the auction house. The card that you registered with will be charged for all shipping charges and you will also receive an email with tracking information.
One of the more prominent early 20th-century landscape painters in Northern California, Arthur Best was especially known for his paintings of the Grand Canyon, Arizona desert, and Sierra Nevada mountains. With his wife, he founded the Best Art School in San Francisco. In 1905, he was commissioned by the Southern Pacific Railroad to paint pictures of the Southwest and Mexico. Many of his paintings were destroyed in the San Francisco earthquake of 1906.
