Circa 1880 French style vitrine is hand-painted on gold leaf and features ormolu mounts, hinged top with beveled glass and velvet interior, curved fitted glass on the sides, single interior glass shelf, and mirrored back panel. It measures 41" tall x 27" wide x 12" deep. It bears a celluloid Herts Brothers Furniture label on the back. Herts Brothers were furniture designers and interior decorators, active in New York City from about 1876 to 1908. At the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893, the Herts Brothers won the highest award in their category for their Louis XV room at the Manufacturers Building.
